Walk-On Structural Steel Balconies
If you are planning walk-on structural steel balconies, we design and supply or supply and install bespoke steel balconies across the UK. Choose a galvanized or powder-coated steel frame, then match it with any type of glass or steel balustrade, with deck and trim options to suit your property.
Every balcony is made to suit your opening, fixing points and finish. If you already have an existing opening or structure in place, we can also advise on the most practical balcony and balustrade setup for a great result.

Types of Walk On Balconies
Walk-on structural steel balconies can be built in more than one way. The right setup depends on your opening, the look you want, and the exposure of the property. You can pair the steel frame with frameless glass or post-and-glass balustrades depending on your preference and requirements.
Start with photos and rough sizes. We help you choose the layout and fixing method, then match it to the right steel frame and glass setup. The focus is on a clean edge line, secure fixing points, and a balustrade that meets Building Control requirements.
If you already have an opening or existing structure, we can advise on how to integrate a new balcony and balustrade into it. Send photos and we will confirm what is practical for your setup.
You will recieve drawings to approve & comment on before anything gets made, and initial mark-ups are available on request, so you can review the design before manufacture.

How it works
Most walk-on structural steel balcony enquiries start the same way. You send a few photos, rough sizes, and a quick note on access. From there, we look over everything and come back with a clear, itemised quote.
Next, we work through the details with you. That includes the steel frame design, how it will fix back to the building, the balustrade style, and your finish. Once everything is agreed, it’s all made to measure, with the steel, glass and fixings sized properly for your setup.
We offer both supply-only and full supply and install across the UK. If you’re going supply-only, we’ll still guide you on fitting and the order things should be installed.
Lead time is usually around 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the design, survey timing and finish.

Building Regs and Safety
Balconies need to meet strict safety requirements. Height, loading and fixing strength all matter. We design steel frames and balustrades to suit your specific opening and loads, in line with BS 6180:2011 for barriers in and about buildings. We also reference Approved Document K for guarding and fall protection where required.
Useful references:
- Approved Document K (England)
- LABC guidance: structural glass and balustrade design
- BSI standards (including BS 6180)
If your Building Control officer has specific requirements for balustrades, handrails or fixing methods, let us know early and we’ll factor that into the design and quote.
