Made to Measure Staircases with Custom Balustrades
If you are planning a bespoke glass staircase, we design and supply or supply and install made to measure staircases across the UK. Choose a single spine or floating cantilever staircase, then match it with glass, timber or steel balustrades, steel or wood treads and an optional handrail.
Every staircase can be paired with any staircase balustrade or railing system. If you have an existing stair, you can also retrofit glass to replace spindles for a cleaner, easier-to-maintain finish.

Types of Made to Measure Staircases
A bespoke glass staircase works with more than one structure. The right choice depends on your space, the look you want, and if the stair is internal or external. You can also mix any stair type with any balustrade style on our staircase balustrades page.
Start with photos and rough sizes. We help you choose the layout and the structure, then match it to the right glass setup. The key is a clean glass line, consistent fixing points, and a handrail solution that suits your Building Control preference.
If you want a made to measure staircase feel but keep your existing stair, glass can often replace spindles. Send photos and we will advise what is practical for your layout.
We can provide drawings and mark-ups on request so your builder and Building Control can review the intent before manufacture.

Single spine staircase with timber or steel treads. A clean option that keeps the structure visible and works well with glass balustrades.

Full steel staircase for strength and longevity. Suitable for internal or external use with galvanised and powder-coated finishes.

Floating or cantilever staircases where structure is hidden. Glass balustrades keep the edge line clean and compliant.

Retrofit glass balustrades to existing staircases. Replace spindles with glass for a lighter, easier-to-maintain result.
How it works
Most bespoke glass staircase enquiries start the same way. You send photos, rough sizes, and tell us if it is internal or external. From there, we confirm the practical details and return an itemised quote.
We then agree the structure, treads, balustrade, handrail and finishes. Once signed off, everything is made to measure, with glass and fixings selected to suit spans and loads.
We can supply-only, or supply and install across the UK depending on project and access. If you go supply-only, we can still provide guidance on fitting and sequencing.
Typical lead time is 4 to 8 weeks depending on survey date and finishes selected.

Building Regs and Safety
Guarding is about safety first. Height, gaps, and load performance all matter. We work to BS6180 for barriers in and about buildings, and we also reference Approved Document K guidance for stairs and guarding.
Useful references:
- Approved Document K (England)
- LABC guidance: structural glass and balustrade design
- BSI standards (including BS 6180)
If your Building Control officer prefers a specific handrail type on a bespoke glass staircase, tell us early and we will build that into the quote.
