Post and glass balustrades for patios, terraces and stairs
From small domestic decks to long apartment terraces. Measured, made and installed to suit your project.
Why choose post and glass balustrades
Post and glass balustrades give you clear views with a visible structure and predictable cost. They work for new builds, refurbishments and retrofits on concrete, steelwork and timber decks.
- Lower cost per metre than frameless with similar visibility
- High strength and stability from simple, proven components
- Low maintenance satin stainless or powder coated posts and rails
- Suitable for domestic and commercial use, designed to BS 6180:2011

Types of post and glass balustrade systems
Three core post and glass balustrade setups cover most patios, terraces, balconies and stair runs. We size posts, centres, clamps and glass thickness to your span, load and exposure.
Stainless post and glass balustrades
Classic 48.3 mm stainless posts with clamp-fixed glass for a clean, modern look. Ideal for patios, decks, balconies and internal galleries.
- Base fixed posts with cover roses as standard
- Side fix brackets for edge mounting to slabs and beams
- Optional stainless or timber top rail or no rail for lighter use
Powder coated post and glass balustrades
Powder coated posts and rails to match frames, fascia or brand colours. Good for apartments, schools and commercial terraces.
- Posts and rails coated to any RAL colour
- Clear, tinted or frosted laminated glass
- Square, round or flat bar handrails
Handrails and post and rail balustrades
Post and rail balustrades with no glass for staircases, ramps and landings where solid infill or rails are preferred.
- Stainless, timber or steel handrails without glass
- Laser cut or bar infills instead of glass if needed
- Interior or exterior use with coatings to suit
Post and glass balustrade specification
Every post and glass balustrade is set out to suit your structure, exposure and intended use. We match post layout and glass type to domestic and commercial loading classes to BS 6180:2011.
Key components
- Posts 316 grade stainless as standard for external use, with round, square or rectangular profiles
- Fixing base plate posts with cover roses or side fix brackets to structural edges
- Glass toughened or laminated safety glass with polished edges and dubbed corners
- Clamps D shaped or square clamps with gaskets sized to the glass thickness
- Handrails optional top rail in stainless or timber, or rail free layouts for light duty internal use
Finishes and options
Satin stainless finish is standard on external post and glass balustrades. Posts and rails can be powder coated to any RAL colour for coastal locations, design schemes or when you want darker frames.
Glass options include clear, low iron for higher clarity, bronze or grey tint and sandblasted bands for privacy. We also offer post and rail layouts without glass where only a handrail is required.

How post and glass compares

- Frameless glass balustrade maximum view with no posts, higher glass spec and higher cost
- Timber post balustrade softer, warmer look for gardens and traditional builds
Other options we offer
- Ornamental steel balustrades with decorative infills
- Handrail only systems for stairs, ramps and corridors
- Steel balconies with integrated post and glass balustrades
