This frameless Juliet balcony is a good example of how to make a space safer without adding clutter. It’s simple, solid, and keeps the view exactly how it should be—clear and uninterrupted.
The customer in Codsall had first-floor French doors opening out onto the garden. They wanted the safety of a Juliet balcony, but not the visual bulk of railings or bars. We installed a single clear glass panel using stainless steel boss fixings, set neatly into the brickwork either side.

Project Overview
This Juliet balcony in Codsall sits just above a set of French doors. The panel spans from brick to brick and is set just above the cill. Fixings were spaced evenly and aligned to sit just outside the frame line. From inside, the glass almost disappears—but provides full fall protection.
Fixings and Spec
- Glass: Laminated toughened clear safety glass
- Fixings: Stainless steel boss fixings (stand-offs)
- Installation: Resin-anchored into solid brickwork
- Design: No handrail or frame – full-glass face
The boss fixings use rubber isolators to protect the glass and keep the load distributed. Everything is flush, straight, and drilled to manufacturer guidance. There’s no cutting corners here – just a clean and proper install.
Compliance and Safety
This install meets the requirements of BS6180:2011, which covers barriers and guarding on buildings. The glass is laminated, so it remains safe even if damaged. The fixings exceed load specs for domestic balconies.
